Yoshikaze Selfie project

August 28th 2023

This is the most recent selfie that I took of myself. I raised the contrast of the picture so it would be easier to see my face. I cropped the image so my face could be in the center of the image. I sent this selfie to my friends in Japan to tell them I am doing well at college overseas.

This is a selfie of me going outside when the COVID outbreak happened. I come from the city part of Japan and during the outbreak I felt constrained. I made the photo colors slightly darker because I was feeling dull.

This is a selfie that I took at the Andrews Library. I usually spend time at the library when I need to do assignments because it helps me zone in. This selfie also shows my identity of how I spend a lot of time in front of screens. I made the highlights of the selfie stronger so it would be easier to see what I am doing.

  1. Very nice pictures! I like the selfie at the Andrews Library since it really shows your identity as a college student! Also, I love the idea of taking a picture from another perspective ( from the ground) it makes the picture more clear, as it shows the highlights of the selfie stronger.

  2. Great selfies! I like how you explained how making the image darker represented the way you felt at the time, and the mask tells the story of Covid as well. I also like how your first selfie is a very happy one and contrasts with the sadder second image and the third image where you are busy working.

  3. Great post, really enjoyed your selfies. I think they all felt very real and relatable. I really liked your second post because it gives perspective on the universality of how people felt during the Pandemic. I like the framing of the third one as well as the perspective is very interesting coming from the ground up.
