Description: My podcast is a continuation of our 3rd project. I highlight in this take the Rise of the Internet how it brought to use social media. I briefly touch on “the Social Dilemma” and that tactics used to keep us so immersed in social media. From there forth I speak on the Illusion of Closeness caused by social media in the context of friendships, romantic relationships, and how we view celebrities.

Digital Detox Reflection
I opted for option 3, which was decluttering my digital space. Over break, I unsubscribed from accounts that I no longer use and turned off notifications for my social media apps. This was long-overdue, because I’ve been needing to declutter my Gmail and also minimize the distractions from my apps. Some notifications were bothering me for a while, but I just didn’t take the time to disable them until now. The detox overall was really refreshing I felt less tied to my phone and it’s allure to check out an app for no reason. Going forward, I plan to keep most notifications off, expect for like messages and calendar. I also want to try using the free version of the Forest app that locks distracting apps while I work, it could be a nice way to keep me focused when doing assignments.
Storyboard
Here’s a general overview of my project’s introduction and structure. The focus will be on digital connections and how they influence our behavior, interactions, and views of the world. I’ll potentially explore themes like mental health, dating, and possibly performative interactions, examining how media may pressure one to create a certain image & shape these experiences we have with one another. There might also be a guest speaker featured in this podcast!
